The Jo Ann Daugherty trio with bruce henry

Vocalist Bruce Henry is a composer, historian, storyteller, and performer extraordinaire. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, and John Coltrane, Henry has an unforgettable voice with a versatility few can match: his three-and-a-half octave range allows him to roam from baritone to falsetto with ease. His artistry has taken him to five continents, and he has recorded for Disney, the BBC, HBO, and numerous national ad campaigns. He has performed with and opened for the likes of Doc Severinsen, Roberta Flack, Chris Botti, Ramsey Lewis, Stéphane Grappelli, Jimmy Jam, and Sounds of Blackness.

Pianist Jo Ann Daugherty loves making all kinds of music and has traveled the country and globe, playing at venues including the Chicago Jazz Festival, Satchmo Fest New Orleans, Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, the Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba, and elsewhere. Some of her favorite recent appearances include NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert with SIX; the AfroBop Alliance Big Band’s Pan American Nutcracker tour; her regularly sold-out shows at Winter’s Jazz Club in Chicago; and a turn as featured onstage pianist with the Washington National Opera in the New Orleans-tinged Songbird at the Kennedy Center. She has conducted touring companies of the Broadway hits Motown: the Musical, SIX, and Jersey Boys, and her 2017 jazz album Bring Joy was listed by Downbeat as one of the year’s best.
