The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago is a world-renowned museum and center for research in the archaeology, philology, and history of early Near Eastern civilizations. The museum displays objects recovered by OI excavations in permanent galleries devoted to ancient Egypt, Nubia, Persia, Mesopotamia, Syria, Anatolia, and the ancient site of Megiddo, as well as rotating special exhibits. The museum will be open and free during the 2018 Hyde Park Jazz Festival.
