MARLENE ROSENBERG has emerged as one of the most talented and multi-faceted bassists on the scene today. She has played professionally throughout the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Japan, and toured with the likes of Joe Henderson, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, Frank Morgan, Ed Thigpen, Albert "Tootie" Heath, Benny Green, Roy Hargrove, Wallace Roney, and others. Meanwhile, Rosenberg also teaches jazz bass studio and coordinates the Jazz combo program at Northern Illinois University, and is Instructor of Bass as an applied artist lecturer at Roosevelt University. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Bass and Composition from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and a Master’s of Music in Jazz Pedagogy from Northwestern. She plays regularly with her own ensemble, MRQ. Her recordings include Pieces Of…, featuring Cedar Walton and Javon Jackson; the critically acclaimed Bassprint; and the brand-new MLK Convergence, featuring Kenny Baron, Lewis Nash, Christian McBride, and Tom Burrell.
