Majestic Gents and The NuBlu Band: Chicago Steppin
Saturday, September 23
The MAJESTIC GENTS was founded in 1996 by James (Pete) Frazier, a premier Chicago stepper who grew up in the Near South Side’s Ickes housing projects. The organization, which was formed to provide positive and progressive entertainment in the black community, currently hosts and sponsors steppers events five to seven times per year. Its ten members have been featured in shows and events including WLS’s Stepping at Club 7 and V103’s World’s Largest Steppers Contest.
THE NUBLU BAND has been performing dance, funk, pop, and R&B together for more than seven years. The band is headed by Carlise Guy, daughter of legendary Chicago blues musician Buddy Guy. They have performed with Buddy at his blues club Buddy Guy’s Legends, at the New Year’s Eve event Chi-Town Rising, and at the Chicago Blues Fest, among others. The NuBlu Band includes CARLISE GUY (lead vocals), MARK MADDOX (lead guitar), DAN HENLEY (drums), KENYATTA GAINES (back-up vocals), MICHAEL STERLING (bass guitar), and DAVID HOLLOWAY (keyboard).
