Inspired by an invitation to present a set in which jazz and dance music take center stage, THE ETERNALS bring a different energy to the Festival's West Stage. The Eternals are a Chicago-based band with instrumentation that includes vocals, synths, drums, bass, samples, percussion, and melodica, among other instruments. In the first track on their album, Heavy International, the band includes songs that seem to be a slight mix of hip-hop, R&B, rap and electronic music with hints of reggae and funk. Formed in 1997, the Eternals have put together a special lineup for this performance, marking another transformation in this ever-transforming ensemble. Performing are DAMON LOCKS, vocals/kalimba; WAYNE MONTANA, bass; AREIF SLESS-KITAIN, drums; DAMIEN THOMPSON, percussion; AARON SHAPIRO, guitar; and JEANINE O'TOOLE, vocals.
