About the Festival

Hyde Park's very first jazz festival—on Saturday, September 29, 2007—brings together world-famous musicians and local up-and-coming acts for 15 hours of back-to-back entertainment for serious music lovers and families alike. From the headline concert featuring Orbert Davis to kid-friendly music events and workshops to a historical "Jazz Fête" performance with Willie Pickens, Maggie Brown, Corey Wilkes, Dee Alexander, and more, the festival promises to celebrate the music and culture of Chicago's South Side.

Produced by the Hyde Park Cultural Alliance, The University of Chicago, and the Hyde Park Jazz Society, the festival will provide musical trolleys to transport attendees to a variety of creative and unexpected music and food venues, including the Hyde Park Art Center, the DuSable Museum of African American History, the Oriental Institute, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House.

Save the date for next year's festival: September 27, 2008.
